Juan Carlos Freile, CFA

CEO

Founding Partner

Juan Carlos Freile is the CEO and a founding partner at Tiempo Capital. Previously an
Executive Director and Banker at J.P. Morgan Private Bank, he advised wealthy
individuals and families in the United States Puerto Rico, and Latin America, where he
was responsible for over $2B in client relationships.

For nearly 15 years in his former role at J.P. Morgan, Juan Carlos led an integrated
team providing customized wealth management solutions including investing, wealth
structuring, fiduciary services, philanthropy, banking and credit. Previously, he worked in
Investment Banking, at Goldman Sachs & Co. in New York City, advising and executing for Latin
American institutional clients with trading and hedging solutions in Fixed Income, Currencies,
and Commodities.

Juan Carlos received his B.A. in Economics and History cum Laude from Dartmouth College in
Hanover, NH, with a Full Scholarship, where he was recognized as a Presidential Scholar. He
also studied at University College London (UCL), University of London as a Research Scholar of
early 20th century financial history. For the past decade, he has been a CFA charter holder and
a member of the CFA Society of Miami.

Juan Carlos is actively involved with his alma mater, interviewing High School student
applicants in Miami and Latin America. He is on the Steering Committee for the Miami Chapter
of the Young Professionals of the Americas / Council of the Americas. Juan Carlos lives in
Miami with his wife and their two children.

Alexandra Valentin

Chief Strategy Officer & Head of Puerto Rico

Alexandra Valentin is a founding partner and serves as Chief Strategy Officer, and Head of Puerto Rico at Tiempo Capital. Previously she was an  Executive Director and Banker at J.P. Morgan Private Bank’s Miami office, where  she led the Puerto Rico expansion and team covering the Island.  Under her leadership and guidance, JP Morgan became one of the Island’s largest custodians of High Net Worth assets.

Alexandra began her career in financial services in 2003 and spent over a decade covering ultra high net worth families from Latin America at UBS International. 

Originally from Puerto Rico, she grew up playing tennis in her father’s academy and competed internationally representing Puerto Rico.  She is a fierce advocate for financial literacy in youth and women and volunteers her time and knowledge for the cause.  She is a frequent speaker at conferences and panels discussing women’s financial education.  Alexandra lives in Miami with her music executive husband and two young daughters.  

Philip Hackleman, CFA

Chief Investment Officer & Founding Partner

Philip Hackleman is a founding partner and the Chief Investment Officer of Tiempo Capital, where he leads the investment team. He has experience running several strategies including Long-Short Equity, Global Macro, Classic Asset Allocation, Liability Management through Currency Arbitrage, and Fixed Income Absolute Return.

Prior to founding Tiempo Capital, Philip was Portfolio Manager of a global multi-family office. He has also worked for a Swiss global multi-family office with $5.5 billion in AUM, participating on the investment committee in representation of the North America office. Previously, Philip worked in a Single-Family office of a Fortune 500 founder, focusing on Growth Equity Investments and Real Estate.
